Hair Transplant Post-Operative Instructions

1. Sleeping (First three nights).

  • You are advised to sleep on your back.
  • Kindly put 2-3 pillows behind your shoulders to make an angle of app 45”.
  • Roll a clean towel and put under your neck or use travel pillow.
  • You might feel some tightness on the back of head
  • (Strip surgery and will settle down in a few days.
  • Use the clean plastic sheets /bibs provided to be placed on the pillow
  • Avoid direct pressure on the donor area for long time
  • Do not sleep on sides.

2. Swelling.

Slight swelling may be seen on the forehead (1 to 3 days), kindly observe the following precautions.

  • Start applying ice packs on the forehead 5 to 10 minutes every 2-3 hours (8-10 times a day). It will help to minimize the swelling.
  • Keep your head straight (if necessary all bending should be done at the knees not the waist).
  • Don’t lean to tie shoes or pick-up the objects.
  • No typing/writing/messaging on mobile, if necessary keep the head straight.
  • Don’t touch the grafted area to inspect for the areas transplanted (use mirror).
  • Occasionally some of the grafts may come out especially while getting in or out of the car or during sleep or while changing dress, do not panic. In that case simply press the area with sterilized gauze (already provided) for 5-10 minutes.
  • Do not remove the gauze to check the stoppage of bleeding.
  • If you had FUE, you might have straight ooze, kindly use sterilized gauze and sheets provided.

3. How to wash the head?

  • Take Luke warm water in the mug.
  • Pout pyodine scrub or shampoo and name a rich leather.
  • Gently pour the after containing lather and scrub on the head.
  • Wait for 3-5 minutes and gently b clean the donor area with the pulps of your fingers.
  • Rinse out the lather using mug with plain water.
  • Repeat at least once daily for next 7 days.

4. Precautions.

  • No smoking, no aspirin, no tea, no coffee, no chocolate beverages for 48-70 hours. You can take green tea and milk.
  • Do not lift anything weighing more than 2kgs.
  • Do not wet your head (1-24 hours only).
  • Remove the bandage carefully so that it should not touch the grafted area (Simply cut the taping on the front and remove it from front and back).
  • Don t use direct shower for 7 days
  • Avoid exposure to dirt/dust for 2 weeks.
  • Do not dye your hair.
  • Don’t use towel to clean for 2 weeks.
  • Don’t use cap for 7 days, if necessary, follow as demonstrated.
  • Don’t rub the areas for 2 weeks as it may result in infection. You may gently press that area if you feel itching.
